Google infuses powerful Machine Learning in ad tools

As online marketing gets more and more competitive, even a slight edge could decide the success of online marketing campaigns. That edge is definitely with the people who have the most digital crude oil, also known as data.

With the exponential rise in the popularity of Android devices in the last decade, no single company has more collection of  data than Google. But the data alone cannot provide Marketers the edge as somebody has to go through the gigantic amounts of data to make sense of it all. It's not as if  everybody has the intellect of  John Von Neumann or John Forbes Nash Jr.. Although, people have used algorithms running complex statistical models since many years to some extent of success but the problem with statistical models are that they are not adaptive or dynamic to perfectly solve the real world problems of marketing.

The advent of machine learning and the incessant pursuit by all the tech giants to perfect it is set to change all that. One of the major advantages of machine learning is that it only gets better and better with usage. Google in their blog post yesterday announced that they are going to infuse machine learning in all of their new ad tools.

Based on the vast amounts of historical ad performance data it has learnt from Google's machine learning algorithm will figure out the following:

1. Automatic optimum creative creation of ads based on the context they are shown.
2. The exact placement of relevant ads in YouTube videos based on the vast amount of historical ad performance data it has learnt from.
3. Smart placement of ads across the web which will take into consideration things like seasonal demand and pricing.
